MEMBER NEWS: NEW ADAPTATION TO ENSURE THAT YOU CAN CLICK STRAIGHT THROUGH TO THE POST YOU WANT

I had a helpful comment from a subscriber yesterday about the ease in which they could access posts.  They were finding that when they clicked on the link in the email this was taking them to the first page of the site (a pinned page) rather than the specific post that they wanted to read.   This issue has been addressed.

THE REASON FOR THE PROBLEM

The issue arises when people are not logged into the blog when they click the link.  (If you have not experienced the problem it is because you are normally logged in). So the ability to log in has been added directly to the page you are trying to reach.

THE FIX: LOGIN ON THE POST

The wonderful tech company that helps with the technical side of this blog has added a new feature to help with the issue of people being redirected to the homepage after logging in.

Now, if someone isn’t logged in and clicks through to a post (for example, from the email updates), they’ll be able to log in directly on that post rather than being sent to a separate login page. Once they log in successfully, they’ll stay on the same post instead of being redirected back to the homepage.

At the bottom of any post, if the reader isn’t logged in, they’ll now see the login form.

This should make things much smoother for members and avoid the confusion around pinned posts on the homepage.
