There is useful guidance about the need for training. It is difficult to pick out one aspect of the guidance. My favourite, however, is:
“The time for medieval indulgences, I am afraid, is now over as Mr Mitchell’s unfortunate solicitors have recently discovered no doubt to their grave embarrassment. While judges have no financial interest in the costs side of case management, they do have a vested interest in controlling the volumes of evidence. It is often said that there are “only three points in any case and no more than 10 documents”.
