NEW BILL OF COSTS CONSULTATION: A USEFUL LINK

A pilot scheme is being introduced for a new bill of costs model. Initially voluntary the scheme may become compulsory.

Useful guidance is available on the Hailsham Chambers website. 

  • The draft bill and guidance documents are available.
  • A new Practice Direction in October 2015 will enable parties to use the new bill of costs in the SCCO (which will be voluntary at that stage).
  • The longer term aim is that the new bill of costs will be used in all cases where the costs order is made after 1st April 2016.
  • Most significantly there is a consultation and readers are invited to e-mail comments and suggestions on the documents.
