GRAB A BARGAIN, RAISE FUNDS FOR FOODBANKS AND LEARN ABOUT FORGOTTEN YORKSHIRE (& PARTS OF NORTH DERBYSHIRE AND HUMBERSIDE): BUT BE VERY QUICK
For a very short time the paperback book “Forgotten Yorkshire & Parts of North Derbyshire and Humberside” is on offer for 0.99 pence (reduced from £10.00). This has led the inimitable Tripe Marketing Board to make sure that profits from the book are paid to charity. This year the charity is Kath’s Place and Foodbank in Deptford. This offer is on a very short time frame (and Amazon can end it at any time). Buy multiple copies (in fact you can only buy free) here.
“The books make great Secret Santa gifts or stocking fillers (their retail price is £9.99) They even double as a placemat if you buy enough – and you’ll never have a wobbly table again! They can be donated to a local charity shop, meaning the original 99p will go on to do greater work. They’re also allegedly quite funny”
A MESSAGE FROM THE TRIPE MARKETING BOARD
We put all our energies into raising as much money as possible for Kath’s Place, a Foodbank in Community Hub in Deptford which urgently needs support. Your help could really make a difference! We know this is possible because the last time Amazon did this 99p offer for Forgotten Yorkshire in 2020, we sold 958 copies of the book in one week. That’s a staggering number of books for a small publishing company run by a couple of old blokes who live in Merseyside. With additional donations, we were able to raise a total of £2500 for the MS Society, our chosen charity that year.
Just as importantly, we were able to pay the author a decent royalty – something that hardly ever happens with self-published books. This is a physical book, not an e-book.
We can do all of this because Amazon are obliged (and do!) pay us royalties based on the book’s full RRP, since it’s they who’ve chosen to reduce the price. It’s all something to do with a guy called Al Gorithm who works there, apparently. So, how can you help us raise more for Kath’s Place?
We’ve learned that the key is to help us maximize sales of this particular book in a very short timeframe, before Amazon remove the offer. They could do this at any time, but we suspect from past experience that we have just another three to four days left. If you could *please* identify those of your friends and family who might have Amazon Prime (so they benefit from free delivery) and ask them to purchase up to up to 3 copies, then that will mean a £1 donation from us to Kath’s place *for each copy* purchased. A personal approach is best. If they don’t have Prime, they could add a copy or three to their next Amazon order to minimise postage costs for themselves, or ask around their family to find someone who has Prime. If you could talk to friends and family, a quick email or text just asking them to buy copies for 99p would help. We’re also regularly tweeting, so re-tweets will help enormously.

Our supporters are fantastic – we know folk who have bought this book in 2020 who have bought it again (and again!) in 2022, helping us raise even more money for Kath’s Place. While the offer is on, individuals can purchase a maximum of 3 copies per 7 day period – Amazon lock further purchases until exactly 7 days after the first one. We’ve sent the first £300 to Kath’s Place already, from books sold over the last few days. Make sure people understand they should only buy the book if it’s still 99p, not if Amazon has increased the price. Any help you can give us would be hugely appreciated – but time is of the essence because Amazon could increase the price in a few days if our 2020 experience is anything to go by. Thank you so much for your help and have a wonderful Christmas when it arrives! TMB Here it is: amazon.co.uk/dp/0993407552/
